Social Media and my Life

Social media is something that I have mixed feelings about. I love to get on social media to look at things that are funny. On twitter, I like to follow famous people and sports pages. I really just use twitter for my amusement and to se what my friends from high school are doing. Twitter is really something that connects the entire world. There is so many people in the entire world that has a twitter. I like Twitter and I really do not know what the social media world would be like without it. The thing that I do not like about twitter is some of the people on it. Some people just post really irrelevant things. Also there are some ignorant people on twitter that comment on thing they have no business commenting on. Those are the people that I simply just do not follow. Social media is also something that causes distractions. This is a very big problem that I have. I consistently find myself looking at my phone and getting on twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat when I do my homework. This always makes me finish my homework really late. I like Snapchat a lot. This is because it is something new that allows our generation to express ourselves. It also allows me to stay in contact with all of my friends. Many people that I know have deleted their social media accounts. I feel like I could do the same thing and be okay. But I know that I will not do that. I also know some people that have gotten in a lot of trouble for what they have posted on social media. For a picture or even what they said about a teacher or administrator. I do not use twitter, Instagram and Snapchat as much as a lot of my friends. I am not the kind of person that posts things every day. I sometimes even go a couple of days without posting anything on any type of social media. I always watch what I post and retweet on twitter because I know that my coaches and my dad both follow me. I know that if I post something bad, my dad will be the first person that I hear from. He has already texted me right after I posted something before and asked me questions about it. I think my dad needs to go back to Facebook.

My Great Family

I really do have a great, loving family. First of all, my parent have been the best parents anyone could ask for. My mom is always looking out for me. When I was in kindergarten, my mom always made lunch for me and my best friend that lived right next door to me. This is a memory that I will never forget. Almost every day my mom would make macaroni and cheese. She always knew that that was my favorite food. Ever since I left for college she has texted or called me every day telling me how proud she is and that she misses me. Her and my dad come to every one of my basketball games. And before each game she asks me if I need her to bring me anything. Usually she brings some food for me to take back to my dorm room.

My dad is like my best friend. Even though he can get annoying because he has a twitter and instagram. And he also has a snapchat, which I do not accept his friend request to this day. But other than that, my dad has been a really good role model and father. He was the one that got me hooked on basketball. He coached a lot of my teams and I appreciate him doing all of that. I know that he misses the opportunity to coach me but I also know that he is very proud of me because he tells me just about every day. The biggest memory I will have with my dad is that every Sunday my dad and I would go to the gym. He coached the eighth grade team at my school for a long time. So we just went to the middle school gym to get a workout in since he had the key to it. It would always just be me and him in the gym. I think I miss that the most. Even when I really did not want to go, I went. I knew that he really just wanted the best for me. That is why he is the best dad I could ask for.

Pets in my Life

In this blog I am going to tell you about how pets have made an impact in my life. The first pet that I ever remember having is a dog. My dogs name was Diamond. She was a kind of dog that many people did not know. She was a keeshond. That is a foreign type of dog from what I think Germany. I have the most memories with Diamond than I do with any other pet I have ever had. Diamond lived for a very long time. And when she was young she was always very energetic. I don't know what it was about trucks that drove by our house that had trailers attached to them, but every single time one of those drove by, Diamond would take off after it and try to catch it. Eventually she would give up and run back to the house. I remember writing about these incidents while I was in the first grade. Diamond was also not the type of dog that barked at and chased after cats. We had a couple cats and she would eventually make friends with the cat. Diamond was the only dog that my family had since I was born. We went through a couple cats though. The first cat we had was probably the best. My dad even liked it. I say that because he really hates the cat that we have now. The cat that we have now was a cat that my sister found and brought home. I like the cat, its cool, but it always pees in the house. Ever since I left for college, my cat has been on my bed constantly. My brother says that my bed smells terrible. We had two other cats before the one we have now but they both ran away. My favorite kind of pet is a dog. I really wish that my family got another dog after Diamond died. A dog was always something that kept people happy at the house. My sister and her boyfriend got a new dog about a year ago and it is the best dog ever. Its name is Ripple. I always have fun playing with him whenever my sister comes home. I can not wait until I can get my own dog.

Something That Many People Don't Know About Me

Something that a lot of people do not know about me is that I like fishing. Fishing is something that I have done since I was a little kid and I have always loved it. As a small child, my dad constantly took me, my brother and sister fishing at a bunch of different places. One memory that I have from going fishing with my dad is him always playing his music really loud on the way there. Also, he used to take us to the same place a lot and there is a really big hill leading to it. Every time we drove over the hill he would drive really fast to try to jump it. My brother, sister and I got a rush from that every time. Fishing is something that I has been passed down to me from my dad and I plan to pass it down to my children on day in the future. There is just something about catching a fish the intrigues me. I love the adrenalin rush I get and the feeling of accomplishment when I catch a big fish. When I first started fishing without the presence of my dad I always had a friend or my brother with me. I loved going fishing with my friends, especially the ones that actually liked it. Some of my friends just went because they didn't have anything else to do and they always got bored really quick. Then they just started throwing rocks in the water. That was something that annoyed me every time. As I got older and better at fishing me and my brother began catching fish so we could take them home and eat them. We would consistently bring home fish even if we already had some still at home in the refrigerator and I even learned how to gut and clean them. I hated gutting and cleaning fish so I am glad that my brother is better at it and does it most of the time. The main reason why I love fishing is because it teaches patience. Patience is a key characteristic to have to really like fishing. Waiting a long time to catch a fish only makes you feel that much better when you finally land a fish. Some days we will go out and not even catch a fish or get a bite. But that does not make me stop. I try again the next day or another day. My dad always told me, there is always tomorrow.

How Football Played a Part in my Life

In this blog I am going to tell you all about my experience playing football and my feelings about the sport. First of all, I played football all my life up until I got into high school. I always loved football as a little kid. My favorite years of playing would probably have to be when is was in about third or fourth grade. At that time I was the quarterback on my team. My dad was also the coach. He was not the head coach like he was on many of my basketball teams. He actually wasn't even the offensive coach, so he barely even coached me in football because he always with the defense. A lot of people do not believe me when I tell them I used to be a quarterback because I really do not look like one. To tell the truth, I always had trouble seeing over the offensive line because I was so short. When I was in the fifth grade I changed positions to receiver. I think I liked being a receiver a lot better than quarterback. At least it was a whole lot easier. Throughout my entire career playing football I sadly only scored one touchdown and it was when I was in sixth grade. I don't remember who we were playing but our starting quarterback got hurt and I was the only back up. I went in and at one point it was third down and we need one yard to get a first down. We ran a quarterback sneak right up the middle. I did one spin move and saw nothing but open field in front of me and ran about fifty yards for the touchdown. That was a really exciting feeling when I got into the end zone for the first and only time.

When I got to middle school I played a lot in seventh grade but we did not have a good season. It was a really fun coach and we always had fun but we only won one game. In eighth grade my playing time decreased and I really began to like basketball a lot better than football. And finally, when I got to high school my love for football was gone and I completely focused on basketball. Football for the most part, taught me a lot about toughness, team work, and hard work and I will always remember the friendships and memories made while playing football.

College Life For Me

While I was in high school I was not like many of my other friends and fellow classmates. Many of them hated high school and could not wait to leave and go to college. I was one of those people that liked high school and the people that were there. I thinks playing basketball at my high school really made me like my school even more. The love and support I got at my games was great. I loved my high school and didn't want to leave but I knew I was ready for the college life.

The college life is something that I appreciate a lot. I am loving the college life to tell you the truth. I thought that it would be a little bit hard living on my own. But luckily I didn't have to jump into college alone. I come here to Muskingum with two friends that I knew and went to school with. One of them plays football and I have known him since about the fifth grade. The other one plays baseball and I have known him since seventh grade but he transferred to a different high school after our freshman year. got really lucky and got a triple in Patton Hall. I don't think I will find any dorm room nicer than the one that I am staying in right now. I is perfect. We  wish we could stay in the same room next year but it is on an all freshman floor. The thing that I love about college is the timing of classes. I love having breaks in between some classes and on some days I only have one or two classes. Personally, I think this makes each week go by a lot faster. It took a little while to get used to my schedule and I was even late to one of my first classes because I went to the wrong building. The floor that I live on is full of really cool and outgoing people and they are all easy to get along with. I know some people that are not getting along with their roommates. So I am very glad that I have roommates that I already knew and were friends with. I have made a lot of new friends in the first semester of college. This was pretty easy to do since I play basketball here at Muskingum. I have built friendships with everyone on the team. To say the least, the college life is definitely the life for me.

My Love of Basketball

Basketball has been one of the most important things in my entire life. It is hard for me to tell you exactly when I started playing basketball. But I can tell you that I have been playing for as long as I can remember. Playing the game of basketball has taught me so much. Every team that I have been on has had a big impact on my life. I have made so many friend through basketball it is amazing. All of the people that I have played with will always be a part of my memories. I grew up right next door to my best friend and high school teammate. There is a brotherhood on every team that I play on. That is one of the reason why I play the game. I love the relationship and chemistry that is created on every team that I play on. There are some people that I call brothers and the friendship that I have with them is something that will last a lifetime. There are a lot of people that do not appreciate the brotherhood that is formed by a team. Those are the people that do not benefit the team in a positive way.
The game of basketball was really passed down to me from my father. My father was a basketball fanatic. He really loved the game, but I don't think he loved it as much as I do. He was the one that pushed me every day to get better. I always thank my dad for giving me the opportunity to do what I love at every level. He is definitely the reason why I play basketball. My dad even put a small basketball hoop in the basement when I was a little kid. He even eventually had a basketball court made on the side of our house. I will never forget the day that that court was built, I sat in the grass as the cement truck poured cement on the ground. I was so fascinated. My motivation to play basketball has been and always been to make my dad proud. Playing basketball in college has been my dream for a very long time. It may have also been my dad's dream too because he did so much to give me the opportunity. Now that I am playing college basketball my father could not be any more proud of me.

Technology and My Life

Technology is something that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Many people today do not realize the impact that technology has on their life. This is something that I think about a lot. What if I did not have the luxury of all this technology? What if I lived in a different generation without technology? How would I survive? I believe that in this world today, I am dependent on technology. I believe that this is true for many people that live in this generation. I do not think that I could go one day without using some form of technology. The use of electronics plays a major role in my life. I am on my phone maybe one fourth of my day. Things on my phone are very useful in my life. I use my phone for an alarm to wake up in the morning. I know that this is much easier to use than a normal alarm clock. I also use my phone to give me reminders. This is very helpful for me because I always forget to do things that people tell me to do. So whenever someone asks me to do something I just make a reminder in my phone and when the time comes, an alarm goes off with the note that I made. I resort to technology in my down time for entertainment. I look at things like twitter, instagram, and snapchat. After using electronics to get on social media so much, I think that my life would be really boring without it. I think that I am speaking for most people when I ask: How in the world did people in the early generations get by without technology? It is such a great advancement. I know that if anyone talks to their grandparents, they would tell them how they did not have all the electronics that we have today when they were children, my grandfather was given a touchscreen tablet for Christmas. It was very difficult to teach him how to use it. I could tell that he liked things that had buttons because every time he touched the screen he would press down really hard and for a long time. This always made some screen pop up. Technology is EVERYWHERE! Even when you may not think we are using technology, you probably are. I guess you could almost say that technology runs the world. Or just my life.
